Speech & Language

It’s such an exciting time when your child begins to talk — it opens up their world and adds a whole new layer to your relationship. It’s also natural to feel concerned if your child isn’t making the progress you expect. If you ever have any worries about your child’s speech, language, or communication skills, please don’t hesitate to speak with your family’s key person.

To support your child's speech and language development, engage in back-and-forth conversations, read together, and narrate daily routines. Get face-to-face to make eye contact, use simple language, and pause to give your child time to respond. Follow their lead by talking about their interests, make learning fun through play, and use sounds, songs, and repetitive phrases to build vocabulary and communication skills.
