Severe Weather Procedures

THIS IS TO INFORM YOU OF OUR ARRANGEMENTS IN THE EVENT OF SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS:

If snow should fall during the school day, it is unlikely that the school would close, unless the snowfall was very heavy.  However, if you feel uncomfortable about the conditions and wish to collect your child early, please do so.

In the event of overnight snow, every effort would be made to open the school as normal.  However, very few of our teaching staff live in Yeovil, and closure in these exceptional circumstances would therefore be a possibility.  If we are unable to open the school, a notice will be placed at the top of the school driveway, and a message will be broadcast on the following local radio stations (and published on their websites):

BBC Somerset        95.5 FM                      http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/england/somerset

Heart FM                   102.6 FM                   www.heart.co.uk/somerset

Additionally, we will do our best to update both the school website and our answering machine message. We will also endeavour to send a text message to the main contact as listed on your child’s record.

We will notify you of school closure or restricted opening hours.  If there is no notification, you should presume that the school is open as normal.
